قاَلُوا مَنْ حَبَّ اللهْ يَمُوتْ
قُلْتُ أَهْلاً بِــقَـــاتِلِـــــي
إِنَّ فِي الْمَوْتِ رَاحَــــــةً
لِلْمُحِبِّ إِذَا بُــــلِـــــــي
قَالُوا إِنْ كُنْتَ صَـــادِقًــا
فَقُمْ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَاسْــأَلِ
إِنَّ فِي اللَّيْلِ سَـاعَــــةً
لَا تَـنَـمْـهَا يَـا غَــافِـــــلِ
كَيْفَ يَسْلُو مَنْ قَدْ بُلِي
عَنْ هَـــوَاهُ أَوْ يَــغْـفُـــلِ
أَشْغَفَ الْقَلْبَ حُــبُّــــــهُ
يَا اهْلَ وِدِّي لَا عَيْشَ لِي
Qaaloo man haabballaah yamoot (x3)
Qultu ahlan biqaatilee (x2)
Inna fil maawti raahatan (x3)
Lil muhibbii idhaa bulee (x2)
Qaaloo in kuunta saadiqan (x3)
Faquum fil-laayli waas’alii (x2)
Inna fil-layli saa’atan (x3)
Laa taanamhaa yaa ghaafili (x2)
Kayfaa yasloo man qaad bulee (x3)
‘An haawahuu aw yaaghfulii (x2)
Ashghaafal qaalba huubbuhu (x3)

They said, ‘One who loves Allah dies.’
I said, ‘Welcome to my slayer’.
Indeed, in death, there is tranquility
for the lover when he is consumed by it.
They said, ‘If you are truthful,
pray in the night and supplicate.’
There is an hour in the night,
do not let it pass, O heedless one.
How can the tormented escape
of your love or be heedless of it?
My heart is deeply enamored with his love,
O people of my devotion, I have no life without it.
